Fish-Hook meets Wanderlei

Last Saturday we at Fish-Hook MMA had the opportunity to meet Wanderlei Silva at a Boston Pizza in town during the Sonnen vs Rua Card. We didn't get to meet him until after the fights were over which worried us for minute but Wanderlei was just about the nicest guy I've met. He took the time to say hi to everyone and give them a handshake and a hug and we got to joke around with him a little bit. And as if that wasn't awesome enough, my girlfriend won tickets to UFC 165 next month. We already had a pair so we gave them to Kyle and his brother and now Fish-Hook will be in Toronto for Jones vs Gustaffson in full force.

Sorry for the absence

Been a while since I've updated the blog. We're still doing podcasts and putting them on podcast.com with the two most recent on soundcloud at all times. Unfortunately we can't have them all up on soundcloud for download without paying and podcast.com doesn't work well with blogger, hence the lack of blog entries. I'm tempted to just pay soundcloud and upload all the episodes. First Step

Hey, I'm David, I've been thinking for a while that I want to do a blog or podcast about MMA and decided now is a good time.  I've loved martial arts my entire life and remember really getting into the UFC around 2000-2001 when a buddy and I would rent old UFC VHS tapes from a local video store. I followed the first season of The Ultimate Fighter religiously and started taking kickboxing which I did for 2 years. 3 years ago I started brazilian jiu-jitsu and I am now a blue belt, I compete several times a year.  I watch all the UFC events as well as Bellator and I catch ONE FC and Dream and other smaller shows when I can find them.  I've been to 7 live MMA events including 2 UFC events and I can honestly say that seeing a live event is a must for any die hard MMA fan.  I just wanted to say a bit about myself before diving into this thing.  In the next couple weeks I hope to have my first podcast up with current news and my picks for upcoming events as well as any results and reviews from recent events.  St. Pierre Vs. Diaz is next Saturday and I'd like to have my first podcast ready before then but quickly, for the main event I'm going to pick GSP by decision.  I don't think Nick will be able to handle Georges' wrestling and the pressure he'll put on him. Much like Most of Georges' opponents I don't see him being able to finish the finish Nick and I think it will mostly be 5 rounds of Georges holding Nick on the ground throwing less than dynamic punches with the occasional stand up exchange in between.  That's the only pick I'll make for now but I'll go through the whole card when I get the podcast up.
